Our guest speaker, Nullthreat, will be covering a number of free tools, (well, most are free), you can leverage to increase your network defenses at home or in small office environment. He will cover installation, configuration and maintenance of a number of applications, such as: BRO IDS, Snort/Suricata, Snorby, ELSA and others.
Nullthreat is a local independent security assessor who does offensive security assessments for a large corporation in the greater Seattle area.
This is not intended a participatory workshop.
Most of the demos will be linux focused.
User supplied eyeballs and ears encouraged.
